Never underestimate the importance of a backflow preventer. A backflow prevention device is a crucial component in water supply systems to maintain pressure and keep the water from flowing - you guessed it - backwards.

Backflow preventers are significantly important when water pressure fails or is reduced such as when a pipe bursts, pipes freeze, or there is too much demand on the water system. Such an occurrence can cause contaminated water from the ground to drain into the water system.

You have probably frequently seen backflow prevention devices in your own town or city, not realizing what they are in front of commercial and industrial facilities.

There're many types of back flow prevention devices:
Check valves - One way valves that allows fluid to flow only in one direction.

Pressure vacuum breaker assemblies - Device used to prevent contaminated or non-potable water from entering a water supply.

Reduced pressure zone devices - Used for significantly hazardous applications (such as human waste).

Vacuum breakers - An attachment commonly placed on toilet or urinal flush valve, that prevents water from being siphoned backward into the public drinking water system.
